Only French Solidarites Rebuild Schools in Nagan Raya

Jeuram, Serambi Indonesia – Head of Nagan Raya District Education Office, Cut Intan Mala, said so far only a French NGO, Solidarites, has fulfill it promise to rebuild school in her district. The NGO has start construction of an elementary school in village of Lueng Mane, subdistrict of Kuala.

‘’There a lot of NGOs, local and international, that already committed to rebuild schools in Nagan Raya. But so far only Solidarite concretizing their promise,’’ Mala told Serambi Indonesian on Tuesday. Solidarites has also promise to rehabilitate another 14 schools in the district.

According to Mala, only 10 schools destroyed completely by last December tsunami and earthquake. Another schools only need rehabilitation. Several NGOs already committed to help rehabilitate the damaged schools.

The office it self in the near future will start reconstruction of middle school (SMP 5) in Kuala. Indonesian government will finance the construction, and the project is already included in Indonesian National Budget for 2005. © zah
